Hello, fine people.
I have gathered you all here today… For the Gains.
I would like to start by saying… I am certain I could have spent a day off more effectively than to send myself into an emotional meltdown trying — and failing — to make the perfect protein waffles.
The limit does, in fact, exist.
As it stands, I ended up with a pretty solid recipe in the end.
I will have you know — there were burns acquired in the making of this recipe.
AND also, just so we are clear — these are still protein waffles…
Would normal waffles be better? Yes.
But I didn’t want normal waffles. I wanted Magic Gains Waffles™.
And so Magic Gains Waffles™ is what was made.
Before I get into the recipe, I want to warn you of the recipe size. This was a recipe formulated so I don’t have to touch this portion of my pantry again for at least several weeks. If you want a smaller or larger batch — divide or multiply, respectively.
This also brings me to another point: this recipe could be stored as a master dry mix and used to make waffles fresh as you wish. However! I use it to make waffles in batches for freezing, because protein waffles are great options for quick, bulk-forward breakfasts on leg days…
…and on days where I just otherwise cannot be bothered.
All you do is pull them from the freezer, throw them in the toaster, and you’re done.
Here’s the recipe:
MAGIC GAINS PROTEIN WAFFLES™
Makes 14 Servings
(Either 14 larger waffles or 28 smaller waffles.)
Approximate Macros per 70g Serving (when mixed with water and 1 egg):
Calories: 330
Protein: 28g
Carbs: 39g
Fat: 8.8g
Fiber: 7.4g
Ingredients
500g Oat Flour (literally blended oats, don’t overthink it)
375g Earth Chimp Vanilla Protein Powder
92g Powdered Milk
30g Baking Powder
½ tsp Salt
2-4 tsp Stevia (as sweetener)
Note: Eggs and water are needed at the time of mixing/cooking, but the “Master Dry Mix” is comprised of the ingredients listed above.
Directions
Blend all the dry ingredients above together to make your master dry mix.
For a single serving of two waffles:
- Weigh out 70g of the master dry mix.
- Weigh out 100g of water.
- Add the water slowly to the dry mix, combining as you go and ensuring no clumping.
- Once the water is added — mix in 1 egg, combining well.
- Let the mixture sit for 1-2 minutes to thicken slightly.
- While the mixture is resting, heat your waffle iron.
- Ensure the waffle iron is either sprayed with non-stick spray or has a truly non-stick surface. (Please learn from my mistakes. The protein waffle will make you feel its wrath if you do not do this!)
- Pour the batter into the heated iron, making sure not to overfill. (In the end, I stuck with pouring ½ the batter and making it two waffles.)
- Cook the batter until it is done on the inside and at the level of crispiness you like on the outside. (For me, that was about 4-5 minutes.)
- Cooking times will vary based on your preferences and your iron.
If you have:
- a larger iron
- more patience
- generally more know-how about waffling than myself (which, statistically, is more than likely)…
…then you could probably get away with making a full, singular waffle with the 70g of dry mix you’ve just made into batter.
I specifically broke the batter up into halves/two waffles because watching batter overflow onto my countertops after the third failed waffle the day prior was enough to shut down Waffle Ops completely for the day and so I really wanted a successful attempt. Hence, smaller waffles using less batter.
You do you.
I will try to be more ambitious in my confectionary endeavors at a later date.
Until then…
This is how it came out!

And, yes… I have been eating pickles with my eggs at breakfast… and dates! And, no — I’m not pregnant. But mind your business, anyway...okrrt?
I really do want to write more about this experience. Truly.
However, the developmental portion of this process… was a bit more involved than I’d originally intended for it to be.
I could see there being more experimentation in the future to further refine this recipe, but I at least wanted to share what I ended up with. I feel it is a solid addition to the meal prep arsenal as it stands, and that is why I feel it can be shared here.
Please let me know if you have any advice on ways to improve or let me know if you try this and please share your experiences.
Until next time.
